Kim Kardashian Hilariously Baffled by Classic British Dish: The Jacket Potato

Reality star. Business mogul. Red carpet regular and whatnot. But when it comes to basic British cuisine, Kim Kardashian apparently misses the mark. During a Capital Radio interview with 89-year-old East London broadcaster Grime Gran, the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" icon froze at a single question: “And you are a big fan of jacket potato, ain't ya?”

Kim paused, confused, and replied with a hesitant “Who?” Grime Gran laughed and tried again.

Still unsure, Kim admitted, “I don’t know what that is.” Sarah Paulson, sitting beside her, didn’t seem any more certain.

The British Dish That Baffled Hollywood

Once Grime Gran broke it down—“It’s just a baked potato cooked in the skin”—everything clicked. Kim’s face lit up. “Oh, I love that,” she said. When asked how she’d top hers, she answered without hesitation: “Sour cream and butter and bacon bits.” The simplicity of it all cracked the host up.

The clip took off online almost instantly. Brits laughed, Americans opened Google, and food bloggers jumped in with jokes of their own.

A humble baked potato sparked a full-on cultural moment, showing that even global celebrities can be thrown by the smallest everyday dish.

Kim / IG / When Grime Gran asked, "And you're a big fan of jacket potato, ain't ya?", Kim Kardashian appeared utterly perplexed and had no clue.

In the United Kingdom, jacket potatoes are ubiquitous, found on street corners, in school lunches, and on pub menus. The name is second nature. In the United States, they’re just baked potatoes. Same dish, different label. That simple shift in wording turned an everyday snack into a mystery for two American celebrities.

What This Says About Kim Kardashian’s Diet

The 45-year-old media mogul's topping choices raised a few eyebrows, especially among fans familiar with her usual plant-based lifestyle. In recent years, the beauty brand founder has promoted vegan-friendly products and meals. Her kitchen often features plant-based meats, dairy-free alternatives, and recipes packed with vegetables. But bacon bits? Definitely not vegan.

She is not alone, though. Many people live primarily on a plant-based diet without adhering to strict labels. Her answer during the interview proves one thing: flexibility rules the plate.

The food mix-up may have seemed minor, but it opened a tiny window into Kim’s real-life eating habits. Sour cream, butter, bacon bits - classic comfort food toppings that cut through her usual image of clean eating and luxury salads. This side of the influencer felt more casual, more relatable, and a lot more human.

Kim IG / Back in 2022, Kim mentioned she occasionally eats real meat, despite largely following a vegan routine.

Grime Gran Steals the Spotlight

While Kim struggled, Grime Gran held court. The 89-year-old presenter didn’t blink, didn’t flinch. Her voice stayed steady, her question clear. She wasn't fazed by fame or flashy outfits. That confidence turned a quirky moment into a viral gem.

Fans quickly praised Grime Gran’s no-nonsense style and natural comedic timing. Online comments flooded in, calling her the “true star” of the interview. Many viewers, especially in the UK, connected more with the sharp-tongued host than the A-list guests beside her. Authenticity, once again, prevailed.

Sarah Paulson also deserves a nod. The award-winning actress matched Kim’s confusion beat for beat, showing that this wasn’t just a Kardashian moment. It was a full-on American food blind spot. The shared blank stare made the clip even funnier and more relatable.
