Barbara Mandrell, 72, Born In 1948 – I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool.

Beginning in the 1960s, Barbara Mandrell started her ascent to the top of the country music scene by teaching herself to read music and play the guitar. She was just a child at the time. After waiting for over a decade, she would eventually come into her own when her song “Sleeping Single in a Double Bed” became the most popular song in the country.

After achieving success on the radio and the charts, Mandrell decided to participate alongside her sisters in the various programs of the same name broadcast on NBC from 1980 through 1982. Although it does not appear like Mandrell, who is 71 years old, has any immediate plans to release her 26th album, she does her best to keep her legacy alive through her use of social media.
