The carnivore diet is gaining traction fast. All over social media, people are showing off plates of steak, eggs, and butter, claiming it is the secret to energy, glowing skin, and weight loss. No plants. No carbs. Just meat.
People like Isabella Ma, @steakandbuttergal, have become walking billboards for the high-fat carnivore diet. Her message? Ditch the veggies, eat a stick of butter, and “never fart again.” Meanwhile, gym buffs like Antonio Angotti swear it fuels gains and focus.
Even Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson have jumped in. But behind the beefed-up bodies and bold claims, what is really going on?
What Is the Carnivore Diet?
The carnivore diet is exactly what it sounds like. You eat only meat, fish, eggs, and sometimes dairy. Hardcore fans skip all plants altogether. Others might let a few berries slip in. But mostly, it is steak, bacon, butter, and more steak.
It is the extreme opposite of veganism. Some followers come from that world, like Isabella, who now praises meat for fixing her skin and gut issues. Most say it’s simple: There are no labels to read, no carbs to count, just meat, cooked however you like.

Apart from that, the skin clears up. Bloating disappears. Weight drops fast. That is the pitch.
And there is a reason it works for some. By cutting out processed food and common irritants, people often feel better quickly. Dr Emma Beckett says this effect is similar to an elimination diet. If you are sensitive to gluten, dairy, or other ingredients, removing them might make you feel like a new person.
So, What Do the Experts Think?
Here is where things get complicated. Dr Eden Barrett says cutting out fruits and vegetables means you miss out on important stuff, like vitamin C, folate, and fiber. Your body needs these nutrients to stay healthy long term.
No fiber also means you are not feeding the good bacteria in your gut. That can mess with digestion and lead to other problems. And while the carnivore diet might feel good at first, experts warn it could cause silent damage you don’t feel until years later.

Your kidneys also take a hit. Dr Halmos says eating huge amounts of protein leads to something called putrefaction in the gut. That is when unabsorbed protein rots in your colon, changing its pH and allowing harmful bacteria to grow. Sounds gross? It is.
Isabella Ma brags about not farting and only having one scentless bowel movement a week. Experts say that is not a win. It is a warning sign.
Farting and pooping are normal. They show your gut is working. If you suddenly stop doing either, it probably means you are not getting enough fiber. Dr Beckett says it is a “weird brag” that actually shows something is off with your digestion.
Why Do People Stick to It?
Some say it is the simplicity—no decisions, no food guilt, just meat. Dr. Beckett calls this a coping strategy for decision fatigue. Life is full of food choices, and this diet removes the noise.
Others stay for the community. Carnivore influencers share transformation stories and connect over steak-filled meals. It is less about science and more about feeling in control, and that alone can be powerful.
