You may have heard of sesame oil as it is used for cooking all over the world. It has a distinct scent and essence that one can distinguish from miles away. It’s true—sesame seeds add that extra oomph to your food and also bring out a completely different flavor due to their unique aroma!

But there is more to sesame seeds than one might think. Sesame oil is said to be quite beneficial for the skin and has numerous benefits for healthy and glowing skin too. Research published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences revealed that these seeds and their derivatives are known to fight inflammation, promote healing, and repair damaged tissue.

But what does that mean for your skin?

Here are some of the skin benefits that sesame oil provides:

1. Bye Bye Skin Inflammation

Sesame oil is rich in numerous anti-inflammatory compounds and antioxidants that are great for your skin as they tackle inflammation. The study from the International Journal of Molecular Science also mentions the possibility of sesame oil protecting the skin from UV radiation. Yet another study explained that sesame oil can also lower the chances of one developing skin cancer and this is all because of the rich amount of poly and monounsaturated fatty acids and bioactive compounds like sesamol and polyphenols present.

2. Acne No More

Since it is anti-inflammatory in nature, many dermatologists recommend sesame oil as a natural and side-effect-free remedy for acne including blackheads and whiteheads. It is also beneficial for healing of the skin and it can repair damaged skin as well. Here’s your ticket to waving goodbye to acne for good.

3. Slowing the Clock

There are many anti-aging products on the market but did you know that natural and organic items like sesame oil also have effective anti-aging properties? Sesame oil protects the skin against oxidative damage and since it can also significantly lower the dangerous effects that might be caused by UV radiation, it protects the skin from aging too quickly as well.
